Help me, TIMC Hive Mind! I've answered my share of questions here, but now I have one of my own. My father is convinced he saw a movie whose setting featured white folks in an African or South American settlement. There was one character that he thought was played by Burl Ives (and I believe he is mistaken on this count) who was always immaculately dressed in formal wear even when everyone else was grimy or dressed more casually for the tropics. When asked why he went to such pains to keep up appearances, he answered something like "Because I know my name." Anyone? Bueller?

The film I'm trying to identify is a black & white noir about an ex US soldier who returns home to his morally loose wife who lives in some kind of motel. I think he goes off and gets drunk after she tells him she's met someone else. I believe he also gets involved in a murder. That's about all I can recall of the film. I don't think that it stars any of the better noir actors of the period and I don't think it is Crossfire starring Robert Ryan.

All I remember is a group of people in a room - ?library & footsteps are heard in the passage outside, then violent thumping on the door which bulges inwards. Thought it was called something along the lines of (v. original!!)the haunted house, but all searches on this or similar have failed.

I saw this movie when i was quite young, so I am not sure of the year, but i think it was mid to late 80s. It had a spirit that could only be seen in mirrors or reflections, and also only killed when the victim could see it in a reflection. One victim was killed by the spirit seen in the reflection in someone elses eye.

My brother and I used to watch Saturday Night Nightmares on USA in the late '80s and early '90s. They showed a bunch of random horror films, but short and feature. The film I'm looking to find is a short film where a woman is at home after her husband, who is a pilot I believe, leaves for work. He has a Charlie McCarthy doll from his childhood that he insists on keeping, but that she wants to get rid of. She goes about her business, takes the obligatory shower, and the doll is alive. There's a great shot where she throws it in the bedroom and then she gets on the floor to look under the door and its eye is at the base of the door looking at her. I think it ends up getting her in the end, with a knife from the kitchen, and it cuts up her legs

This was a movie probably released in the early to mid 70's. It was about a group of senior citizens being thrown out of the apt they lived in. They take revenge on the person whose evicting them and begin killing off everyone connectyed with the eviction. The one scene in particular they cover a construction worker with cement and all thats sticking out is his hand. One of the elderly people is a blind man and he cuts off the hand and sticks it in his pocket. It might have had Ruth Gordon in it but I cant find anything in her filmography that looks like it.

I just watched "Re-Animator" which made me think of this movie. I used to watch a bunch of bizarre, "spoof" horrors when I was of a certain age, so it would have to be around 1989 that I saw this one that I just can't fully remember. OK - Plot: two brothers (one is extremely stupid) are driving around in a white truck (an ice cream truck?) and one particluar scene shows the stupid (and fat) brother pressing his butt up against the truck's window to fart at some women in a passing car. This is where my memory starts to fail me: The brothers are killing women to use the body parts to create a perfect woman, but she ends up being some kind of an ancient and evil goddess whose stomach opens up in the belly button area to show some really nasty teeth (like the Sarlacc in Empire Strikes Back). I don't have many more details, but it is certainly an eighties or nineties movie, in color, with a very prominent "spoof" element, but mostly a whole lot of gore.

Believe this film was shown on TV in the late 80s. A group of people (explorers??) descend into this massive underground cave. As the team further explore the underground tunnels they come across a race of people. Very white skin and blue eyes. They don't talk they sort of roar/scream. Soon they are chasing the team and its a race to escape. Some dodgy effects of eels attacking out of holes in the walls. The underground race are very basic. Teared cloth clothing.

There's this family with two kids who's travelling in a spaceship, and then it crashed on a planet, somehow the kids got separated from the parents. They're stranded on the planet because the spaceship can't fly. There's monsters and weird creatures on this planet. There's one part where the two kids are in a cave, and there's this dragon in the cave, and then they found a paper plane and flew out of the cave to escape the dragon. And each member in this family wears a wristband that has lights, if one member dies, one light goes out.

It's a period drama set around 17th/18th Century England about a girl whose father lost her in a card game before he died. She goes to live at the estate of a mother and the son who won her. There are alot of sub plots about the family she stays with and how the husband had to fake his death to escape debt collectors. In the end before the girl and the son get married the mother tries to kill her and they find out the mother was a smuggler. I think the sons name is Joshua but i'm not sure.

They have a contest whereby each team has to hide a basketball somewhere in the city and the other team has to to find it. The first to find it wins. Each team has to give the other team clues along the way. As I recall as a kid it was hilarious. Can picture the actors faces but no names come to mind. One team hid there ball in a large church way up on a rafter or high ledge or something 50 or 60 ft in the air. They had a hell of time getting it down.

the film that i cant for the life of me think of the name was all in color and i saw on one of the sky movie channels about 12-10 yrs ago which will be between 1995-1997 . the whole film is based around children aged 10-13. their is a young girl in which pretends to be her boy (her twin brother, although she has no twin brother) to be part of a group with some guys. its all based around a talent show/contest, and the boy are forming a band (i think the girl plays the drums or the keyboard). but when she is a girl she is also performing in the contest with the girls (singing, i think). at the end of the film the girl pretending to be the boy/twin gets found out by the boys and then after all is forgiven the girls and the guys join together and form the band. the contest was organised by either the school or a summer school. the name Max comes into mind but not 100% sure whether its right or not.

this film has been creeping into my dreams for years and I have no idea what it is but it makes me feel unsettled for days sometimes!I saw it between 1984 and 1990, most likely around 1987/8. It was set in an english university, I'm almost certain it was Oxford and was about a student who was obsessionally in love with a girl making a love triangle. He ended up offering the love rival a pistol duel at dawn, but ended up shooting himself. I wish I could remember more but unfortunately the only image that keeps coming back is of the boy leaving a red rose in the girls milkbottle in the early morning.

I'm 47 years old. I saw this film when I was much younger, maybe early teens. It was on television. A Western, the only salient thing that I can remember is that one of the characters used to drop ball-bearings, about one inch diameter, into indentations in his shoe. He would then whirl and "kick" the ball-bearing at whoever he wanted to injure/kill. He did this regularly during the film, if my memory serves me. I'm sorry that I can't provide any further information.

The movie I am trying to track down is an old movie that might have been made prior to WWII. I'm pretty sure it was black and white. It is a lovely story about an older couple who, due to their neglect, lose their home. Their adult children are critical of their parents situation, rather selfish and not much help. The couple's fate is to be separated and sent to different housing situations and they spend one last day together in NYC remembering their honeymoon and their long lives shared together. Two of the days activities are taking a ride in a new car by a car salesman trying to make a sale and having dinner in the hotel of their honeymoon. I believe the two main actors (the couple) were well know in their profession. I saw this movie on the American Movie Channel several years ago.

All i remember is that it was about a boy, approx age 15, who goes to live with relatives...maybe his grandfather? I think the boy had blonde hair. The film involved something supernatural like ghosts or time travel. It was kind of similar to Tom's Midnight Garden so i might be confusing the two. I think it was a British film or possibly Australian. And i think the boy wore a baggy white t-shirt for most of it. Over the course of the weekend they are murdered in some odd ways, a woman is crushed in her shower when the walls start to close in on her and a man is decapetated by a dumb waiter. The only movie that comes close is the 1978 version of "the cat and the canary" but their is one glitch in "the cat and the canary" the will is read by the deceased in a film set up on a screen in the house and in the movie I remember the deceased is laid out in a coffin in the parlor and there is a built in tape recorder on the side of said coffin and thats how he speaks to his guests. I think it was a boy about 8 years old. So they put up a wall to hide the child's room, and when these people tore down the wallpaper they found dusty toys lying around in the hidden room behind the wall. There was a twin size iron-frame bed in the room, and some stuffed bears, balls, and horses lying around. The hidden room was behind a wooden panelled door or wall in a hallway, not plaster like in Deep Red and not in the kitchen like in Bad Ronald. I believe the ones who found the room were a man and a woman, who were trying to solve the mystery of why there was a missing child. It came out either in the late 90's or early 00's. I saw this on TV in the UK over 10 years ago, it was probably made in the early 90s. It is an American film, it was possibly made for TV. The film begins with a teenage boy in a gang who have this sick game where they go around stabbing people, and they get points for how many times they stab the person. The game was called something like 'dungeons and dragons'. The boy is so into this game that he ends up stabbing his mum loads of times just to get points. The gang run off leaving the mum bleeding to death. She crawls to the phone and tries to ring the ambulance. Then the film cuts to the present day where the boy has just been let out of prison and they are having a family barbecue and the boy is cooking burgers. I think during the film it keeps changing from past events to the present day etc. I don't think it would quite classify as a horror film, it was more of a thriller/disturbing drama.

Then at night he sets fire to the house downstairs, then goes upstairs to bed and waits to die. Then the song 'Creep' by Radiohead starts playing which ends the film.

Saw this film on the TV sometime around the year 2001 (NB this was in the UK if that makes and difference) and it was in colour. The general feel of the film was on a par with films like "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels", "Snatch" and other similar Film4 films though I'm sure this was an American film.Don't remember any actors though the majority of the cast were young, 20 to 30 years old. The main characters are a group or 4 or 5 thiefs, one of whom is female and Chinese. Further to this there are two rival Chinese gangs involved with deals with these aforementioned thieves. The plot as I remember involved the group stealing an valuable item/artifact from a vault in the basement of a building on behalf of one of the gangs, I believe there may have been some form of blackmail involved to get the group to perform the robbery. For the actual breaking into the vault explosions are timed to coincide with the beat of the music at a rave that has been arranged in the building adjacent to the location of the heist. Whilst executing the removal of the item one of the members of the team has a fit and passes out requiring another member to follow and get him back. Other things that I remember happening are that a Chinese delivery boy (Chinese food not Chinese actor) somehow walks in on the breaking of the vault and is incorporated into the group as he witnessed what they were doing. At the end of the film there is a great deal of double crossing by all groups, each wanting to benefit from having the artifact, i.e. one Chinese gang crosses the other, whilst the thieves are crossing both...something like that. Finally throughout the sequences in the nightclub/rave, other side plots go on with regard to relationships with people in the club and within the group of thieves themselves, and other shenanigans that go on with it being a rave such as sex, alcohol and drugs.

I saw this film when I was a small child in the mid 60's, and it scared the heck out of me. It was a fantasy epic of some kind, and used stop motion animation (like a Ray Harryhausen film, but was definitely not by him).It might have been dubbed and European, but I'm not sure. It was not a new film when I saw it, so it was probably made in the mid to late 50's.I remember a scene where the hero is trapped in a mill, with a large monster, possibly a cyclops, outside, reaching a hand in to get him. Eventually, the monster's hand is crushed by the mill wheel.

It was an English speaking American film I saw on TV in the 1970s and it was probably made in the late 1960s or 1970s. It was about a couple of orpahns who fall in love. The headmistress separates them and the boy promises to become successful and come back to find her. They grow up, she is betrothed to a rich old man who freezes himself in order to wait for her. The orphan boy who is now a man hears of it an also freezes himself. But has to be thawed out in the ocean. Its a comedy and the plot is mainly about the near misses that the two have in trying to find each other. For some reason I remember the orphan boy/man becoming the second richest man in the world and I thought the girl's name was Pollyanna or Pauline?

Hello, sorry but I can't remember much of this movie and for the longest time I thought it was Child of Glass but just watched it on YOU TUBE and it wasn't it. Must have mixed the two together over time?I'm thinking late 70's, TV movie...I thought it was Disney but...all I'm really sure of is...a stormy night and a bus is going to go over a bridge that has washed away or washed the road away and it is going to go over the side but a ghost I think a girl tells a boy(I think)what is happening and he stops it. I thought the girl ghost had jet straight black hair. I thought the girl helped the boy because he had solved a mystery that she was involved with?

This is a movie (or made for TV movie)very possibly Canadian. From what I can recall it should be from the very early 80's. All I remember was that there was a kid who was lost in a forest. The kid, forest and all the surroundings are real (live action). Some forest animals come to help but they are animated. One has a backpack, and they go on an adventure of some kind through the forest.

I am looking for a movie that I saw when I was younger, somtime in the 90's. It was an animated movie, probably made some time in the 70's or 80's. I saw it either on T.V. or on a VHS tape. I don't remember a lot of details, but it took place in a middle earth-type fantasy world. I vaguely remember the main character, a young man, possibly coming out of that world into the "real" world and meeting a woman in the end at a pub or an inn or something like that. This also could have happened in the fantasy world, as maybe there was only one "realm" in which this took movie place. But for some reason i feel like the woman he meets in the end was a princess or something from the fantasy realm, meaning there were two worlds. Also, the inn or pub where the man meets the woman could have "fit" in the middle earth-like realm or in the "real" world; if it was in the "real" world it would have been in a time long ago, not modern at all. The only other details I remember are the main character fighting a dragon and another monster of some type (he was giant, with human-like features, possibly a cyclops). I think there is also a sourcerer or magician of some sorts somewhere in all of this.

In 1995 or 1996 I saw a movie on HBO. It was rather erotic (tho, R rated of course) about a young (presumably underage) Asian girl who ends up having a sexual relationship with an older Asian man. All I remember about the movie are these things:-The girl goes to a school where all the girls wear white smocks/dresses but she is forced to wear a black one or a dirty brown one..not sure of the color. But she is singled out when it is learned that she isn't a virgin and that's the reason hers is a different color.-She travels to some sort of city where he lives and has sex with him at is place.-She has at least one older brother and perhaps a younger sibling.-The man is rather forceful with her during sex but from what I remember it's consensual.-There is a lot of nudity.-At one point in the movie the girl is at a party/restaurant with her family and the man is there. She has a sexy dance with her own brother, I believe, which causes a problem.-It doesn't take place in America.

Me and my sister both remember a movie we've seen on television and we can't find anything on it anywhere.. that being because we don't know what it's called. It would have been from the early 90's most likely, maybe even a little older. I know it's been a while since we've seen it. The problem is, we only remember a few parts of it. So it makes searching for it hard. There were 2 kids, a boy and a girl.. siblings.. probably between the ages of 8-12. And there was a lady. I don't remember if it was a nanny or a mother/stepmom. The part that we remember the most was when the lady took them to some place with a crazy doctor guy. He did strange things to them. He gave them cough syrup to make them cough. And put little stick things in their eyes to hold them open and made them stare at a snowy tv screen. I'm not sure if they were bratty kids or if the lady just didn't like them or what.. to take them there. But this has been bugging us for quite some time now and if you could help, that would be so great.

I am looking for a film that came out anywhere from 1980-1998. It was made in the US and produced in color. The only thing i can remember about the film is that there is a spooky guy that lives next door to this family. There is a group of 3 or 4 kids that somehow find a body under the neighbors porch. They also end up going into his house and almost get caught by him. This is about all i can remember other than the man might play the piano or at one point in the movie there is classical music playing loudly in the house.

Movie from the early to mid 1980s. Really messed me up when I was a kid! Color film. 2 siblings, sister and brother, go into a cave. They see yellow/amber glowing pod. Something happens to the girl, she ends up in the pod I think. She may have been in a coma, or this happened overnight, but she aged like 10 years, went from being a kid to a teen. Had long blonde or light brown hair. Family had to keep her hidden so no one would find her, they may have been running from the police at this point?

I'm looking for an animated movie where the lead character had magical powers, and was able to turn himself into anything to hide from anyone who might be after him. One thing I remember him turning into was a bird, I think it was a hawk. There was a young girl in it too, and she was living in the lead characters house taking care of him. She was also hiding from some kind of witch, the witch put a hex on her that turned her into an elderly woman, by the time the movie was over she was young again. I don't know what year it was made, but I remember watching it in December 2006. Another thing about the movie was that the house they were living in was able to walk around wherever they needed it to.

I saw a movie promo many years ago and meant to send my husband to see it.In the promo, a British actor (I thought it was Sean Connery--but I've searched his IMDB and the role doesn't seem to be there) is seen addressing the sailors assembled on the deck of his ship. The British have just declared war on Germany, or perhaps Germany declared it on them. But, the captain tells his men that he has just sent a telegram to Germany stating that the "Ship's name" and crew are ready for them. This elicits a cheer.Okay, that's all I know. I wanted to send my husband to see it because he likes that kind of film, but I don't think that it ever played nearby. This was long ago--if memory serves it was 1979-1983. I thought that it was based on a real figure, and I thought that the figure might be Montbatten. But, again, I cannot find anything about a biographical film of Montbatten.

At the end of the film, the dead man walks into the woman's bedroom, with his face a mess from where she had shot him. She then shoots him and kills him and then her husband walks in and peels off the fake rubber "wound" make-up from the dead man's face and calls the police ....I think that he was trying to either drive his wife mad or get her put into prison for murder. Can't remember why. The film is pretty ancient - possibly in Black & White.

From what I remember the hero who was black may have been killed by several white people. In one scene he is in a graveyard, possibly dead and he is speaking to a black voodoo priest wearing heavy face make up and maybe feathers around his neck that brings him back to life or helps him in some way get revenge on the bad guys. He starts getting them back one by one. The last scene I can remember is that one of the villians gets thrown into a coffin full of snakes and is killed. That is all I can remember. Movie from the early 90s I believe. Starts with a girl kind of dressed like little red, running from something. She runs into a house and the thing (werewolf I believe) chases in after her, there's screaming and then she comes out happy with her vampire teeth showing. Then the actual movie is something about A guy and a girl that go to this mansion and end up fighting vampires. It's more of a spoof movie than an actual horror movie. I remember at one point the main guy in the movie was wearing a Jack Nickleson mask over half his face.

It was black & white and the only part I can remember is a scene where a young woman goes into a bedroom - she is being "tested" to see if she is the real missing daughter or heiress in the plot. The people testing her know which doll was the real daughter's favorite when she was a child. They have filled the bedroom with all sorts of dolls and stuffed animals to see if this young woman can "remember" which doll was her favorite. She manages to pick out the right doll. But I do not think she is the real daughter or heiress but someone pretending to be because I remember her telling someone that she was able to pick out the right doll because it was the warmest to her touch and so it must have beem sitting in the bedroom near the window a long time (like since the real girl went missing). That's the only scene I can remember from the entire movie and it has bothered me for years that I can't remember anymore or have never seen it again on TV.

This is a 1970s-era, color B-movie with, I recall, occult overtones -- much of which takes place in some sort of mansion/facility that treats the mentally ill. I remember only one scene clearly: a young woman is is in the office of a psychiatrist(or authority figure). This guy is questioning her and trying to force her to agree to something, but she's resisting. At one point, he presses a button, and these metallic clamps emerge from an armchair, restraining her while she sits. She still refuses. The villain cranks up the pain by placing her in some of sort of cell, with a large observation window, and releasing LOTS of vermin (insects, snakes, etc) into the cell. I wasn't able to watch the whole movie when I saw it as a child in the 70s and kept looking for a repeat. Never saw it pop up again.
